NMC, Emirates Academy of ADCCI, Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority and Thomson Reuters Foundation sign MoU
posted on 04/03/2010

National Media Council (NMC) signed yesterday the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates Academy of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority 24-54, and Thomson Reuters Foundation to boost the strategic partnership ties among them.
The MoU also aims to coordinate work among the four authorities to provide distinguished services in regard to training of local cadres in areas of media in particular and creativity in general.
The Labour Minister and Chairman of the NMC HE Saqr Ghobash said "this MoU comes within the framework of NMC Emiratisation drive to train interested UAE nationals to work in the media institutions in the UAE". He added that the MoU includes a specified programme to train at least 15 students annually.
HE Mohammed Rashid Al Hamili, Board Chairman of Emirates Academy, stressed significance of signing the MoU, adding that the move would pave avenue for cooperation among the parties to provide training programmes in the field of media and journalism, and holding of symposiums, conferences, seminars, workshops and others.
As per the MoU, NMC will coordinate with the media institutions in the journalistic training programmes with pledges to employ a number of those trained.
The MoU was signed by Mohammed Rashid Al Hamili, Director General of ADCCI and Board Chairman of Emirates Academy, HE Ibrahim Al Abed, Director General of NMC, Wayne Borg, Chief Operating Officer at twofour54 Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority and Jo Weir, Programme Director, Thomson Reuters Foundation. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
