Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, has commended the trade and economic ties between the UAE and Ireland.

Such relations between the two countries have evolved, thanks to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's encouragement for promoting bilateral ties in all fields, including tourism and healthcare.

Sheikh Nahyan made the remarks yesterday at his palace while receiving the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charles Flanagan, accompanying delegation and representatives of the Irish community in the UAE.

He said the visit of the Irish minister and the delegation would further push forward the trade, economic, educational, cultural, and investment ties between the two countries. Sheikh Nahyan noted that the UAE enjoys peace, stability and harmony among different resident communities in the country.

Sheikh Nahyan referred to the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in the areas of education, culture, health, green cities and others to achieve decent living conditions for citizens.

He noted that the relations between the two countries are based on mutual understanding and co-operation in the areas of trade, investment, education and culture and believe in a world in which peace, security and welfare prevail.

Sheikh Nahyan also welcomed the Irish Consul General and the representatives of Irish community in the UAE.

The Irish minister referred to the UAE's achievements, citing that the Zayed Grand Mosque, which he visited, attracts about five million visitors annually to learn about the culture of tolerant Islam. He also congratulated the UAE for its 44th national day anniversary, which was held on Wednesday.

He noted that the Union established over four decades ago was the paramount achievement, thanks to the late founding fathers, notably, Sheikh Zayed and the Rulers of the Emirates, for making it a reality.

The Irish minister said his visit is aimed at discussions with a number of officials, especially in the areas of trade, security and peace, to bolster the relations between the two friendly countries. He said that there are 7, 000 Irish nationals working in the UAE, which offers to them necessary facilities to serve the two countries.

Flanagan said his country received a huge number of Emiratis to study in Ireland, stating that university education, especially medicine, is good in his country. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395288948508.html
