Nahyan launches UAE Flag website

The UAE Flag campaign website was inaugurated yesterday (Tuesday) by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development.

The website ( allows citizens and expatriates to express their feelings for the UAE flag, that reflects feelings of loyalty and dignity for the country.

The campaign, organised by the ministry, was launched under the slogan "Raise it up high.. to keep it high”.

Sheikh Nahyan said that the website is a key channel to communicate with all segments of society, providing data and information related to the campaign. The website also provides information on various activities and programmes that will be organised by the ministry to mark the campaign, which will continue until December 2, UAE National Day.

The activities will include cultural competitions and Nabati poetry contests, as well as performances by Emirati artists. A number of contests will also be conducted by radio stations in the country. Workshops will also be organised by the ministry to raise awareness on the importance of the flag, its uses and proper placement.

The site will also include historic facts on the flag, its charter, story, and its colours and meanings, in addition to pictures and videos. The website's visitors will be able to upload their own photos and videos related to the UAE flag.

Sheikh Nahyan said that the webpages of a number of governmental bodies and partners will include a link to the UAE Flag website.

The UAE Flag campaign was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to mark the accession of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as UAE President. – Gulf News
