The Ministerial Council for Services held its ordinary meeting at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi under chairmanship of Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Deputy Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Services.

The Council recommended establishment of the National Authority for Inspection and Occupational Health & Safety, which will be responsible for implementing labour laws and carrying out control and inspection operations to make sure that all companies and corporations comply with all safety and health standards and to seek a hazard-free working environment. The proposed authority is expected to begin its responsibilities after 6 months.

The Council also discussed the report presented by the Ministry of Finance and Industry about the 6th meeting of the GCC Financial and Economic Committee, and the meeting of GCC Governors of Monetary Institutions and Central Banks, held in Jeddah last October. It was also briefed on the resolutions passed during the 40th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, held at the Arab League's General Secretariat last June. The resolutions were submitted by the National Media Council. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
