Dr Abdul Rahim Yousif Al Awadi Assistant to Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs, officially launched yesterday the web portal of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law.

International humanitarian law is a set of rules which seek, for humanitarian reasons, to limit the effects of armed conflict. It protects persons who are not or are no longer participating in the hostilities and restricts the means and methods of warfare. International humanitarian law is also known as the law of war or the law of armed conflict.

The newly launched website shines light on the vision and mission of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law. It mirrors UAE's keenness to give protection to human rights and uphold the human dignity as enshrined in the country's constitution and the teachings of Islam. The web portal also contains reports on the achievements of the National Committee in the related field. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
