The Emirates Committee for the Support of the Palestinian People has launched a new charity project to help the needy students for the new academic year, said Ibrahim Bu Melha, Dubai Attorney General and Chairman of the Committee. "The committee has transferred around Dh400, 000to a number of charity organisations in Palestine to carry out the project, one of several humanitarian programmes introduced by the committee in the occupied territories on the instructions of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Minister of Defence," Bu Melha said, according to a report in "Khaleej Times.” "These projects will lessen the suffering of the Palestinian people and ease to an extent the daily oppression and misery they are subjected to by the inhuman practices of the Israeli enemy," he stressed.

He added that the Dubai-based committee was capable in a short time to establish communication channels with a number of organisations and establishments within the Palestinian territories through which it executes its programmes and development projects. Abdul Rehman bin Sobeih, Secretary General of the committee, said that the school bag project financed by the committee covers the school uniform for students as well as the stationery needed by students. More than 6,000 students will benefit from this project in Palestine, he said. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
