The last group of Pakistanis who were wounded in the earthquake left Abu Dhabi yesterday for home after receiving treatment under a medical programme launched by the UAE Armed Forces, under the instructions of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Brigadier Ahmed Al Qubaisi, Coordinator of the programme, said the final batch included 17 wounded who underwent different kinds of medical treatment at Zayed Military Hospital and Khalifa Medical City. Ten percent of the victims suffered from bone fractures.

In total, he said, 47 wounded and injured were brought to the UAE for medical care. 'The UAE was among the first aid providers to the Pakistani population hit by a devastating earthquake in October,' he said, adding that the field hospital set up at Balakot had received over 34,000 patients. The patients expressed profound thanks to the UAE for its humanitarian support for the earthquake-hit regions. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
