Pakistan's Army Chief visits UAE Relief Force

Multan - Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Pakistan General Ashfaq Parvez visited yesterday the UAE relief and rescue force at the Multan military base in Punjab.

The UAE force is assisting the Pakistani army in relief and rescue operations in the flood-hit areas. Logistically, the UAE force is also airlifting and dropping humanitarian aid donated by sisterly and friendly countries to Pakistan.

General Parvez, who was welcomed by Brigadier Abdul Rahman Ibrahim bin Abdul Aziz, Commander of the UAE Force, paid tribute to the UAE troops for assisting the Pakistani people at during the floods calamity.

Brigadier Abdul Aziz informed General Parvez that his unit had delivered 75 tons of humanitarian aid to floods-victims.

'The UAE Force is playing a major role in assisting about two millions affected people in the Punjab region under instructions of President H.H.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Force delivered relief materials to families of victims who were evacuated to safe areas as part of UAE efforts to ease their suffering,' he told WAM.

According to him, the Chinook helicopters have so far carried over 180 tons of humanitarian assistance along with medical professionals from the Pakistani army. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
