The Palestinian Awqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Mahmoud Al Habash has lauded humanitarian gestures of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Al Habash, who is also head of the Committee for Supervision on Palestinian Assistance, valued the stances of the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for their noble initiatives towards the Palestinian people and cause.

"The UAE has been backing the Palestinian people in dire humanitarian conditions", he said, citing that the UAE was one of the first countries to meet the humanitarian needs in Palestine. He referred to the significant role being shouldered by the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) and the follow up from H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of Ruler in Western Region, Chairman of the RCA.

The remarks were made during the visit of the Palestinian minister and the delegation accompanying him to the RCA office yesterday. They were received by Ahmed Humaid Al Mazrouei, Board Chairman of the RCA, and other RCA officials. The cost of RCA humanitarian programmes in Palestine since 1996 to date stood at over AED810 million. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
