President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Egyptian President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak reiterated the need for activating joint Arab work, coordination among them, and consultation on every issue concerning Arabs and Muslims. While holding bilateral talks yesterday afternoon at Al Mushrif Palace in the capital of UAE, both the Heads of states underlined the importance of evolving a common perspective towards the issues of Arab and Muslim nations. At the outset, Sheikh Khalifa welcomed the Egyptian President alluding to the deep relations between UAE and Egypt, and the cooperation existing between the two countries in various fields.

During the meeting, they reviewed the ways for enhancing the bilateral relations and joint cooperation especially in the fields of economy, trade and investment. They also exchanged views on a number of regional issues with emphasis on the Middle East peace process. The international efforts for establishing security and stability in the region in line with the legitimate international resolutions, as well as the Arab peace initiative featured the talks.

The Egyptian President expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality he and the accompanying delegation found during their visit to UAE. Hosni Mubarak described the talks with Sheikh Khalifa as fruitful and constructive, as they mirrored the deep brotherly relations between the two countries. He hailed the remarkable progress UAE has achieved and the civilisational transformation, which are evident in every field. These achievements, Mubarak said, have made the UAE a powerful economic entity on the regional and global levels.

The Egyptian President was given a state ceremonial welcome as he arrived at the Al Mushrif Palace. Sheikh Khalifa accompanied him to the dais, and the national anthems of UAE and Egypt were played, followed by a 21-gun salute in honour of the visiting Head of state. Later, the two leaders inspected the guard of honour. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
