President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered renaming of the Government Excellence Award as the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award, given the outstanding role played by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in leading the government's work.

In a speech read on his behalf by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Khalifa praised the role of Sheikh Mohammed in developing government work, reiterating his confidence in him.

"Our confidence in brother Sheikh Mohammed and in his Cabinet gets stronger each day with each achievement. Our Cabinet has become one of the best governments, our citizens have become among world's happiest peoples, and our leadership and management school have become the role models for the best practices."

The UAE President paid a glowing tribute to Sheikh Mohammed, commending his distinguished service to the nation. "We welcome this occasion for honouring the distinguished and talented Emirati citizens for their achievements. I thank those who exert efforts in service of the country."

Sheikh Mohammed said the allocation this year ceremony "is to honour the distinguished leadership skills exhibited the UAE President in all our Ministries and federal institutions".

He congratulated all the winners and distinguished staff at the public institutions and individuals who had exerted their efforts to upgrade the level of services. "The top achievers are tomorrow's leaders. Our future is promising because of them, as they will build our country". He added that eight years ago when I became head of the Cabinet, some were sceptical about the ability of federal government to develop the country. I heard a lot about this issue, but only met them with a smile, as there were promising cadres with huge capacities an opportunity to make whole people happy".

Sheikh Mohammed underlined the current achievements, thanks to perseverance, self-denial and allegiance to the UAE. "It was the course outlined by the founding fathers of the UAE, a legacy being followed by the UAE President and the Cabinet through continuous engaging of Emiratis to pursue the development with tenacity and efficiency to achieve our national vision 2021." He emphasised his pride about the effectiveness of Emirati youth in leading the government work, noting that the UAE's concept of excellence and innovation has become a role model example being emulated worldwide. He cited that the UAE was ranked first globally in the government efficiency in 2013.

The UAE Vice President made the remarks, while attending the honorary ceremony of the winners of the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award, held at Emirates Palace in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

He urged the government bodies to cooperate with each other, share experiences and knowledge, learn about innovative practices, and communicate with the centres of excellence at home and abroad to improve government performance, stressing that excellence "is attained through cumulative positive results and creative achievements".

Sheikh Mohammed referred to the importance of the role played by "Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme" in establishing a culture of excellence in the federal government, praising the significance of the " Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award," and its role in consolidating excellence as an integral component in the mechanisms of government work, through its vital role in the development of the capabilities and competencies of employees and the empowerment of successful national experiences in enriching government agencies experience and enhancing the country's position as a role model of leadership achievement in the government services.
