President's grant disbursed to Nahr Al Bared displaced people

Beirut - The Operation Emirates Solidarity Project for Lebanon has commenced payment of the first instalment of financial grant $US5 million, ordered by UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Palestinians displaced from Nahr Al Bared camp.

Abdullah Khalifa Al Ghafli, Director of Information Affairs at the project told Emirates News Agency (WAM) in a statement that the payment of grant was co-ordinated through UAE Embassy to Lebanon, Palestinian Embassy and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

Al Ghafli said, "the beneficiaries from of the first instalment will include 1513 families displaced from Nahr Al Bared camp. Two million Lebanese Lira will be disbursed to each family". He noted that the payment of grant was scheduled for Ramadan to ease burden on the displaced people by providing their basic and essential needs amid difficult living conditions following the recent events at the camp. Al Ghafli said the instructions of President were issued from the first exit of the displaced from Nahr Al Bared camp, adding that seven convoys have been dispatched to the Palestinian displaced in North of Lebanon.
