The UAE Ministry of Economy is planning to fix the prices of 1,600 consumer products at 340 outlets nationwide during the holy month of Ramadan, according to Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri.
The integrated plan includes a Ramadan basket of 15 commodities with prices ranging between Dh70-170, the minister said. Outlets and retailers will have the choice to customise their own Ramadan basket and specify its 15 commodities. Protecting consumers is a national priority, Mansouri said, adding that an initiative by the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to give the Ramadan Ration project a permanent status subsidising food items throughout the year will back the stability of prices year-round. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
