London - The Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), a master developer of major cultural, residential and tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with London-based the Prince's School of Traditional Arts (PSTA). Based on the MoU, the two institutions are to collaborate in conducting a joint feasibility study to set up Traditional Arts Centre in Abu Dhabi.

The MoU was signed here in London at the Clarence House, in the presence of an official delegation from Abu Dhabi, led by Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, TDIC Board Chairman and Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bawardi, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

Sheikh Sultan welcomed the initiative, which he said, was part of Abu Dhabi's efforts to become the minerate of culture in the world, adding that the move was in line with the vision of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Sheikh Sultan said he expects the new centre to meet the needs of the future generations of national and expatriate youths to get them closer to the tradition and culture of the region.

Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, received the delegation after the signing ceremony. The two sides discussed areas of common interest, long-term objectives of the new partnership and ways to boost bilateral cultural relations. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
