The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has begun distributing relief supplies to people affected by recent rain deluge in Pakistan which has killed more than 200 people and left some 250,000 others homeless. The relief items included thousands of emergency kits of food, water and other basic supplies. Thousand of tents and blankets have also been airlifted to help those whose villages have been washed-out.

Dr. Saleh Mussa Al Taei, Acting RCA Secretary General said the charity body has recently intensified its efforts to deliver emergency aid supplies in accordance with the directives of President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He revealed that both General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of RCA , have closely been following the humanitarian efforts of the RCA in Pakistan. This close follow up has enormously expedited the delivery of aid to the needy, he said. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
