The Red Crescent Authority's (RCA) third relief team will head on Sunday to The Philippines to continue offering the relief aid to the villages devastated by super Haiyan typhoon, which killed and displaced thousands of people there.

The move comes in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the allocation of US$10 million to assist the victims of Haiyan typhoon that hard hit extensive swathes of land in The Philippines last November.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, Chairman of the RCA said the donation of the UAE President to help the victims of typhoon in The Philippines "reflects the UAE's commitment to helping the victims of natural calamities even after the disaster to alleviate the suffering of people." He commended the following up by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to assist the needy worldwide.

The RCA delegation coordinates with the local authorities and the UAE Embassy in Manila to assess the needs of those affected, especially those who had their homes and properties damaged. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
