The UAE Red Crescent has carried out a humanitarian programme to relieve population in regions affected by recent flash floods in Sri Lanka.

Consignments of assistance were delivered to the First Lady of Sri Lanka, Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapakse, at her residency by UAE Ambassador in Sri Lanka Mahmoud Mohammed Al Mahmoud in the presence of Sri Lanka's Petroleum Minister A.H.M. Fowzie.

The Sri Lankan First Lady lauded the humanitarian initiatives launched by the UAE for assisting the people of Sri Lanka.

The UAE envoy said the RCA relief supplies were given away to more than 1000 affected families as part of effort to ease suffering of these groups.

The embassy, he said, had supervised the distribution of assistance in coordination with the Sri Lankan Red Cross and other reliable NGOs. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
