RCA delivers assistance to injured Haitians

The delegation of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) continues their efforts to strengthen Dominican hospitals capacity, which provide services to about 12 thousand injured Haitians, who are being treated in five hospitals in surrounding areas on the borders between the two countries.

RCA assistance included 550 tents to be distributed to families who have lost their homes to provide temporary shelter for them and more than four thousand blankets in addition to a variety of medical supplies for appropriate treatment of injured.

The delegation, this morning, moved a convoy filled with supplies and humanitarian aid to Haiti, which will be distributed urgently to a number of affected areas to support suffering victims of the earthquake.

The RCA delegation also held meetings to coordinate with the Dominican Red Cross on the mechanisms to facilitate relief efforts.

Mr. Humaid Al Shamsi, Head of RCA delegation said that support operations during the past period focused on supplying humanitarian relief by sending two aircrafts that included 145 tons of various relief supplies, such as shelter and medical assistance.

The RCA delegation visited an orphanage in Santo Domingo, and listened to a detailed explanation about the services provided by the orphanage including accommodation, integrated education and care for orphans of both genders until the age of 18 years. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
