The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has delivered large quantities of medicines and relief supplies to Iraqi hospitals that received a huge number of wounded people following the Baghdad stampede.

The move is in line with the instructions of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the RCA. Sheikh Hamdan ordered the RCA to swiftly deliver relief materials to the victims and provide all possible support to the Iraqi people to help them overcome their plight.

The RCA is doing its best to provide hospitals with medicines and supplies they need, since they are suffering from a shortage of medical supplies, said Ali Bin Shumail Al Ka'abi, Director of the RCA office.

The RCA has intensified its relief efforts to help alleviate the suffering of Iraqis and an emergency room was set up immediately after the tragedy. It is working round-the-clock to meet the urgent requirements of the people affected by the stampede. The relief materials are distributed in coordination with the Iraqi Red Crescent Society and Ministry of Health. Officials, workers and volunteers at the RCA office are working to help the Iraqi people affected by the stampede, Al Ka'abi said. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
