Islamabad - In an effort to ease the deteriorating life conditions of hundreds of thousands of families who have fled Malakand Region in the North-Western Frontier Province of Pakistan, the UAE embassy continued to distribute the emergency supplies dispatched by the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) as per directives from the UAE leadership.

The relief programme is being closely followed up by Chairman of the RCA HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

UAE Ambassador in Pakistan Ali Saif Sultan Al Awani told Emirates News Agency (WAM) today that an amount sent by the RCA for emergency aid will be spent on buying food and other basic supplies for refugees living in makeshift camps.

The bulk purchase of relief supplies will be made at local markets in Pakistan in an effort to take them to the refugees without delay. The embassy will supervise the distribution of the emergency supplies to ensure that they reach the needy in time, said the ambassador.

He added that RCA responded fast to the appeal made by Pakistani authorities for humanitarian aid, thanks to the keenness of Sheikh Hamdan for working to alleviate the sufferings brought about the security disaster in the region. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
