The UAE will continue to deliver its noble humanitarian message of preserving dignity and alleviating suffering of affected people around the world, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, and President of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA), affirmed yesterday.

'Humanitarian initiatives launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan are contributing significantly in achieving aspired social development in several countries,' Sheikh Hamdan said in a statement to mark the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the RCA.

The UAE, Sheikh Hamdan, indicated had adopted a distinct approach in enhancing charitable and humanitarian works and made a qualitative breakthrough in improvement of relief assistance, turning it from a mere immediate assistance at times of disasters and crises into development projects that contribute to improving vulnerable communities thanks to sound directives by Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and

Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. 'The RCA will pursue its humanitarian role in the best way and at all times and circumstances following the step of the late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who founded the RCA for the aid of sisterly and friendly countries at times of ordeal', Sheikh Hamdan added.

'By delivering its distinguished programmes around the world, the RCA is embodying the UAE strategy for supporting humanitarian issues of concern to peoples around us,' he remarked.

'The RAC is ushering into a new chapter of giving in order to ease suffering and preserve dignity of people, 'he added, noting that the RCA had gone a long way in qualitative and quantitative deployment of its programmes targeting the underprivileged and vulnerable groups within the UAE and abroad.

'In view of the human tragedies which have become the common order of the modern time, the RCA is bracing to play a critical role in mitigating impact of ordeals and catastrophes the humanity is facing and to contribute generously in supporting international efforts for crisis management and containing risks the victims and affected population could face with emphasis on programmes for combating hunger, poverty, ignorance and disease.

'The RCA is up to these challenges and heavy responsibility through its swift response to calamities facing the humanity,' he affirmed.

According to him, the RCA will lend greater attention to programmes that cater to pressing needs of poor families and low-income earners. 'The RCA has made staggering achievements and become a hallmark in the international humanitarian scene, 'he said. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
