The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) last night held at the Emirates Palace a charity auction whose proceeds will go to relief programmes targeting victims of typhoon Haiyan which recently hit the Philippines.

The charitable event was attended by Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Deputy RCA Secretary General for Local Affairs, other top RCA officials, Grace Princesa, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, and a crowd of members of the Filipino community in the UAE.

The charity auction was a major success as all displays were auctioned.

RCA Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Ateq Al Falahi noted the RCA had urgent humanitarian assistance to the Haiayan-victims immediately after the typhoon struck the country.

'The RCA is always encouraging good-doers and philanthropists to donate and support the RCA's relief programmes so as to be able to assist victims of natural disasters and wars regardless of their religion, sex or race,' he affirmed. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
