The Higher Committee for Foreign Aid at the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA), has approved over Dh57.9 million to implement various development projects and programmes in a number of Arab and Foreign countries.

The move follows the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA).

Early this year the committee allocated Dh300 million for development in Palestine. Meanwhile 12 projects at cost over Dh27.2 million were implemented in Mauritania, Malawi, Maldives, Chile, Senegal, Somalia, Tunisia, Yemen, Albania, Bosnia and Kazakhstan.

Over 1.2 million was also allocated to support 51 humanitarian entities in 15 countries in addition to Dh778, 674 were provided as medical assistance. Estimated Dh18 million was allocated as initial budget for this year's Ramadan in 60 countries.

The committee has recently held its third meeting at the RCA, chaired by Dr Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, RCA's Secretary-General to review a number of demands made by foreign bodies in sisterly and friendly countries. It approved some of them and referred others to more scrutiny.

Palestine has a lion's share in the projects in the areas of education, health and others.

Al Falahi emphasised that the RCA takes interest in the projects that target the sectors of health, education and service sectors abroad. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
