The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has offered a glimmer of hope for millions of distressed people around the globe, said Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and RCA Chairman. Commenting on the role of the RCA during a meeting yesterday, Sheikh Hamdan extended the gratitude of the charity body to President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, noting that Sheikh Khalifa had provided unstinted support to RCA activities worldwide, thus making it a global leader in humanitarian works. "It is to the RCA that millions of distressed people from the four corners of the globe can turn to for help, thanks to Sheikh Khalifa's support" Sheikh Hamdan said.

The RCA chairman also thanked H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi for their close involvement in the RCA projects. Sheikh Hamdan pointed out that the RCA will seek to reinforce its role in domestic charity issues. "We have outlined new strategies that will enable us to improve the lot of those in need locally", he said. The RCA chairman also praised local philanthropists for their close involvement in RCA causes. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
