RCA reaches out to quake victims in Peru

The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has quickly transferred a large amount of money to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for purchasing of relief assistance for the victims of the earthquake and flood which recently hit Peru and China respectively.

Deputy Prime Minister and RCA Chairman, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, gave the directives for the rapid dispatch of relief assistance to the victims of the devastating quake in Peru and flood in China, which killed and maimed hundreds of people, making thousands of others homeless. Sheikh Hamdan urged the RCA to proactively joined the international efforts to help alleviate the sufferings of the victims.

According to Saleh Musa Al Ta'e, Acting RCA Secretary General, the RCA was closely coordinating efforts with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to follow up closely the humanitarian situation in the two affected areas and to provide the necessary relief assistance to the victims. He said the money so far transferred to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies would be used in buying and distributing various relief items to the victims to help alleviate their sufferings.
