The Red Crescent Authority's (RCA) relief plane number 22 will leave for Fasher, capital of the Sudanese South Darfur State. The trip comes in line with the air bridge being sponsored by the RCA to help those affected in Darfur states' crisis. The plane carries 40 tonnes of food, medical devices and various equipment.

Ahmed Yusuf Ghaith Al Suwaidi, the RCA's secretary general, said Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the RCA HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is closely monitoring the relief programmes in Sudan, particularly in the three Darfur states to ease suffering on the needy there.

He added that the RCA coordinates with its Sudanese counterpart to provide the relief services that meet needs of those affected, indicating that the humanitarian and relief projects, which have been so far dispatched to Sudan by the RCA since 1998 stood at AED51.3 million. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
