RCA sends second planeload of relief materials to China

The UAE Red Crescent Authority yesterday sent 40 tons of relief materials to aid people affected by the earthquake that struck the Chinese province of Sichuan.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarouni, who heads the RCA humanitarian delegation, handed the relief materials to the Chinese officials.

The relief consignment was sent under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces and HH sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the RCA.

Al Zarouni emphasized UAE's commitment to helping people of Sichuan in their plight. He said that the RCA had flown in two planes, carrying 80 tons of relief materials, including blankets and tents. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
