RCA to help rebuild homes

The Red Crescent Authority is looking at participating in the rebuilding of homes in those countries most affected by the tsunami. "We are studying the possibility of rebuilding the damaged houses in Indonesia and Sri Lanka struck by the tsunami," said Khalifa Nasser Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Red Crescent Authority (RCA), at a cheque presentation ceremony. "It will take time to draw up the plans, buy the land and design the houses but we are currently doing the groundwork."

The RCA has dispatched two five-member teams to Indonesia and Sri Lanka to help in the relief efforts along with other voluntary organisations, he said. They also send aid material on a weekly basis. The RCA is working in India and Thailand through the UAE embassies. (The Gulf News)
