A UAE ship carrying 2500 ton of humanitarian relief consignment has left for Beirut seaport yesterday.

Valued at Dh3 million and consisting of food packages, baby milk, blankets, tents, medications and other relief materials from the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS), the consignment is aimed to alleviate the suffering of displaced populations in war-ravaged Lebanon and is in line with the directives of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The consignment is part of a huge UAE effort aimed at improving humanitarian condition of affected Lebanese citizens who are living in dire conditions. "RCS has developed a well-laid relief plans in coordination with RCS offices in Lebanon, UAE embassy in Beirut and Damascus and Lebanese and Syrian humanitarian and relief organizations", said acting RCS chairman Saleh Mohammed Al Mulla.

Meanwhile, RCS is coordinating efforts with the Danish Red Cross Committee to carry out special orientation programmes for Lebanese children who have been displaced by the Israeli aggressive operation against civilians and the country's infrastructure. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
