RCS aid to Philippines

The UAE Red Crescent Authority has provided humanitarian assistance amounting to US$20,000 (Dh73,400 approx.) to the needy people in the Philippine state of Mindanao, according to a press release from the society, published in "Khaleej Times.” The assistance which was delivered through the UAE Embassy in Manila, in co-ordination with the Mindanao Development Association in the Philippines, comprised large quantities of foodstuff, and benefited more than 2,245 families in the Simwain and Varang districts, according to a communiqué from the society.

Saleh M. Al Mulla, deputy secretary-general for foreign affairs at the society, said that the authority launches annually its seasonal projects of providing Iftar breakfasts, Zakat-el-fitr, Eid clothing, and the distribution of Adhahi meat to refugees and displaced individuals in the Mindanao state. He added that the society endeavours to alleviate the suffering resulting from armed conflicts that is affecting thousands of families. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
