The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) will embark this week on a full-fledged relief campaign aimed at alleviating the sufferings of Iraqis exposed to harsh weather conditions. Saleh Al Mulla, CRS Deputy Secretary General for Relief Affairs said the one-month programme, being implemented in coordination with the UAE Embassy in Baghdad, reflected the deep sympathy of the UAE leadership and people with the Iraqi people.

"Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and RCS Chairman has ordered the dispatch of urgent relief for Iraqis facing harsh weather in various parts of the country," he said. "We will do our best to alleviate the sufferings of thousands of families in the various Iraqi provinces," he added.

CRS Baghdad Office Manager Ali Al Kaabi said AED 6 million has been earmarked for procuring the urgent needs of thousands of Iraqi families. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
