The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) is currently building a 37,500 square metre field hospital and a 2,000 square metre store for consumer and relief supplies. The two projects will facilitate the RCS mission to help more than 10,000 Afghan refugees in the camp by rendering regular services. The hospital will house eight rooms for medical examinations, a small operation theatre, laboratory, pharmacy, X-rays room and two stores. Another two separate buildings are designed for administration and accommodation of medical staff. Aqeil Babad, Medical Coordinator, said the current 26-tent hospital receives 400-500 patients daily, some of them come from the villages surrounding the camp. The new store will replace the current one of eight tents. It will also keep large quantities of relief supplies under one roof. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
