RCS delegation in Sudan offers condolences to Kassala flood victims

Kassala - A delegation from the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, has conveyed the condolences of the UAE government and people to their Sudanese counterparts on the devastating flood which hit Kassala recently, killing and maiming a number of people and destroying many houses, farms and other properties. During a meeting with the Governor of Kassala, the delegation, which reiterated the support and solidarity of the UAE government and people for their Sudanese counterparts, were briefed by the Governor about the situation in Kassala.



The governor thanked the UAE for its emergency relief assistance to the victims of the flood. He expressed the hope that this support would continue to help alleviate the sufferings of the victims. He also expressed the hope that other Arab countries would emulate the steps of the UAE government and people. Ja'afar Abdullah, Director of the Sudan Red Crescent Society, said that the flood had destroyed all but two districts of the Kassala province. He put the casualty toll at 13 dead, while more than 30,000 families have been rendered homeless. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
