RCS distributes Zakat funds in Afghanistan

Kabul - The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) has distributed zakat funds to needy and poor people and Eid clothing to orphans in Afghanistan.



The funds and clothes, given away in coordination with the Afghani Red Crescent, are part of the society's continuous humanitarian operations to ease suffering of underprivileged group in Afghanistan.



Abdullah Khalifa Al Murshadi, Director of the RCS Office in Kabul, said that Eid clothing were given to 545 orphans at a total value of US$ 30,000 and US$ 40,000 worth of zakat funds were distributed to 1557 poors.



He added that the RCS had spent US$ 16,300 on the iftar meals project during Ramadan.



In Lebanon, the RCS yesterday distributed 600 school bags with stationery to students at Al Muraj village in Western Bekaa in Lebanon.



Around 500 food parcels were also given to villagers as part of the Emirates Initiative for Support of Lebanon. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
