The UAE Red Crescent Society has bolstered its position to provide quick and efficient relief services to the people affected by the earthquake which recently hit Java island in Indonesia. The RCS team started implementing a plan to shelter more than 1,658 people left homeless by the powerful quake. "Many houses were destroyed by the earthquake and many people lost their loved ones," a spokesman of the people affected by the quake said.

He referred to deteriorating health situation, expressing appreciation to the RCS for setting up a field hospital that offers free treatment. Meanwhile, Colonel Khalid Abdulatif Al Dossary, Commander of the UAE Search and Rescue team in Indonesia, spoke of close coordination with the RCS in preparing the sheltering areas.
