The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) has carried out 65 projects inside the country at a total cost of Dh 7 million as part of its local strategy to support social institutions and improve human conditions of the needy sectors. Sana Al Kutbi, RCS Secretary General, said the society was determined to expand the scope of its local operations with the aim of upgrading the living standards of the targeted groups.

'One of the milestones in last year's projects was the establishment of a printing press for the blind people,' she added. Meanwhile, Al Kutbi met with Mohammed Al Khaja, Deputy Chairman for Safety at Emirates Airline, to review the situation in the Emirates-financed orphanage in Thailand. Run by the RCS at a total annual cost of 88,532 dollars, the two-storey orphanage houses 82 orphans. The company spent 109,775 dollars to build humanitarian centre, which was opened in 2002.
