Gaza - The UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, has given more assistance to the Palestinian people in the East Bank and Gaza, it was announced by Yusuf Al Haddad, Director of the UAE Friends Society at the Gaza branch of the UAE RCS. Al Haddad said that the RCS had given US$200,000 to the RCS' Gaza office for the food parcel and Iftar-meal projects, to cover the month of Ramadan, adding that disbursement of the amount had been put at 120,000 for the West Bank and the remaining US$80,000 for Gaza. He pointed out that over 6,000 food parcels had been distributed, so far, to six thousand beneficiaries.

This, he said, was in collaboration with a number of charity organisations and local administration offices. He hinted that 11,000 parcels of food would be distributed to various mosques in those two areas by the end of the Holy month of Ramadan, adding that US$10,800 had, so far, been spent on the food parcel and Iftar-meal project. He also pointed out that 700 Palestinian families had received from the RCS financial and monetary assistance ranging from US$25 to US$50 per family, adding that the payments were made from the Zakat monies given by the RCS for distribution to deserving families in Gaza.
