An international aid official has appreciated the humanitarian efforts by the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) in relieving populations at hot spots and disaster-hit regions across the world.

'The UAE RCS has become a key figure in the international humanitarian efforts due to its active operations in dispute and disaster-affected regions,' said Ahmed Gezo, Director of the Middle East Regional Office at the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

He made his remarks during a meeting yesterday with RCS Secretary General Sana Darwish Al Kutbi. He is visiting the UAE as part of a Gulf tour to explore prospects of bilateral cooperation and coordination. He told Al Kutbi of the Federation's appreciation of the RCS' humanitarian initiatives and its prompt response to international relief appeals. He said the Amman-based Regional Office had received full support from the RCS. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
