The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) has implemented the first phase of the reconstruction and housing project in a number of cities in the West Bank and Gaza. The first phase of the project which was completed at the cost of one million Dirhams included reconstruction of 25 houses in the West Bank and construction of 8 new housing units in Gaza, said Saleh Mohammed Al Mullah, RCS Deputy Secretary General for Foreign Affairs.

He said the project was part of a grand scheme to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people by providing shelter and other forms of humanitarian assistance to those affected by continued Israeli aggression. The project also helped create jobs for about 1500 Palestinian who had been rendered jobless by the Israeli blockade. Al Mullah said the second phase of the project will commence within the coming few days. He added that the RCS had also participated in the renovation of mosques; the latest project was the renovation of Bilal Ibn Rabah Mosque, which cost Dhs.75,000. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM
