Chaman, Jan.8, 2002 (WAM) Afghan children in the refugee camp of the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, here are being vaccinated against measles by the RCS in collaboration with the Medicine Sans Frontier, MSF. According to Dr. Mufleh Hamad Al Kutbi, Member of the RCS mission, who is the RCS refugee camp doctor, the programme is a precautionary and preventive measure owing to the condition at the camp, which is situated in a remote area, with no medical facilities to tackle the disease or any other epidemic disease once it broke out. Al Kutbi pointed out that various clinics of the RCS field hospital at the Camp receive and treat daily about 500 cases in an effort to wipe out any threat of the outbreak of any disease. He expressed the hope that things would change for better shortly and pleaded for more generous donations in the form of medicines and medical equipment from donors both in the UAE and worldwide.
