Red Crescent's branch in the emirate has set up a tent on Al Faisal Street to collect cash and relief aid for Afghans. A senior branch official said UAE nationals and residents have been waiting to donate aid. Mohammed Abdulla Al Shaibah, in charge of the "Ships of Mercy to Iraq" said he will also set up a tent to collect aid near Al Qusaidat roundabout in Al Nakheel. He, however, is not authorised to collect cash, but he will accept medicines, tents and foodstuff. Al Shaibah said the aid will go to Afghan refugees. He said: "Aid collected will be sent to Pakistan where it will be distributed among Afghan refugees. The aid will be sent over air and sea." (The Gulf News)
