Beirut - Lebanese Health Minister Dr. Mohammed Khalifa praised yesterday the UAE for its humanitarian and relief assistance to Lebanon. He gave special thank s to the UAE for its initiative to airlift Lebanese wounded and treating them in UAE hospitals.

The Minister made his remarks today during a meeting with a delegation of the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) led by Dr. Saleh Al Taei, head of relief and emergency, after it launched the mobile hospitals project in south of Lebanon in cooperation with the Rafiq Al Hariri Health Foundation.

'The UAE's overwhelming response to provide medical supplies and equipment to Lebanese hospitals has boosted efforts to save the wounded people, 'he added. The meeting explored the possibility of executing health projects to serve villages and towns in the south of Lebanon.

Dr. Al Taei said the project aims at providing basic facilities for health and medical services. 'The project represents a big leap in the RCS' plans to intensify its relief efforts in Lebanon, especially in the provision of health care for war-affected people,' he added.
