Baghdad - A plane carrying relief supplies from the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, arrived in Baghdad yesterday to deliver relief assistance, including medicine and medical equipment, as part of the RCS' campaign to reach out to the Iraqi people. Thirteen Iraqis, treated in the UAE for various degrees of wounds they suffered during the war, were also aboard the plane in their journey back home. Khalfan Al Ka'abi, head of the RCS' delegation to Iraq, who was at the airport to receive the plane, commended President H. H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for ordering that Iraqis wounded in the war be treated for free in UAE hospitals.

He said that the RCS had quickly complied with Sheikh Zayed's directives by flying a large number of wounded persons to the UAE where they were given the best medical treatment they needed. The treated Iraqis, for their part, expressed their profound gratitude and appreciation to Sheikh Zayed and the UAE people. They said their treatment was very successful as they are now completely healed. They asked other Arab, Islamic, as well as countries of the world to take a cue from the UAE to assist Iraq and its people in this difficult situation. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
