The UAE's RCS responded even before the outbreak of war. We established co-operation with the Iraqi Red Crescent and the national societies in the countries neighbouring Iraq so as to avoid deterioration of the situation, which had already been worsened by the 12 years of UN sanctions” Al Suweidi told a sub- regional meeting of the International Federation of the Red Crescent and the International Cross, held in Abu Dhabi yesterday. He called for more assistance to the Iraqi people to enable them over come the current appalling conditions. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
