RCS relief operations in Afghanistan a success

Chaman Jan. 23, 2002 (WAM) The UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS has achieved great success in extending relief assistance to the Afghan refugees in Chaman in the Pakistani region of Baluchistan, near the Afghan border. The operating charity organisations in the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan certified that the UAE RCS has a prominent position in the process of delivering relief items to the Afghan refugees. A delegation from the Emirates News Agency, WAM, visited a number of camps in the border areas, where they witnessed the provision of relief materials by the RCS to the refugees, who numbered more than ten thousand men, women and children. Omar Salim Simidah, in charge of administrative and financial affairs at the camp, told WAM that the UAE RCS has been successful in providing all requirements to the Afghan refugees, including shelters, winter clothing, foodstuff and medicines.
