A UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) relief plane carrying 40 tones of relief assistance will leave for Palestine today, it was announced in Abu Dhabi yesterday. The relief items will be distributed to families of martyrs as well as to other victims of the Israeli brutalities in Toulkaram, said Saleh Mohammed Al Mullah, RCS's assistant secretary general for foreign affairs. He added that two earlier relief consignments were distributed to the needy in Jenin and Nablus.

Meanwhile, RCS's Board of Directors Chairman Khalifa Nasser Al Suwaidi met here today Dr. Jean-Herve Bradol, President of MSF France. Khalifa and Bradol, who is currently visiting the UAE discussed the prospects of cooperation between RSC and MSF in the field of medical relief assistance. Bradol commended the UAE in earlier remarks for supporting the MSF activities worldwide. "The MSF is grateful to President H.H Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces for supporting humanitarian relief efforts Undertaken by the MSF worldwide” he said. Last week, MSF was named the winner of the UAE Health Foundation Prize 2002 in a World Health Organisation (WHO) meeting in Geneva.
