The third shipment of relief aid donated to the Iraqi people by the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) is to leave today by road to Baghdad. The 12 truckloads of 240 tonnes foodstuff are meant to meet the essential needs of Iraqis, according to Dr. Saleh Al Taie, RCS Director of Relief and Emergency Department. "Six truckloads of aid will be distributed on war-affected families inside and around Baghdad while the rest of shipment will be apportioned among prospective recipients in Babel and surrounding villages," Al Taie said, adding the RCS pays special attention to children's needs of medicines and foodstuff since they suffer from malnutrition and spread of diseases.
