The EFS, which represents the RCS in Jerusalem, said around ten humanitarian construction projects were carried out in 2005. These projects included building of mosques, houses, health clinics, and handicapped centres and drilling of wells for irrigation purposes.

RCS Chairman Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi disclosed that his agency had finalised designs for the launch of the Emirates District in Khan Yunis.

'Under the proposed D 50 million project, whose the foundation stone will be laid down soon, 600 residential units will be built and be provided with all religious, health, educational, water and power services and facilities,' he added. The report noted that the Dh15 million Sheikh Zayed project for accommodation of teachers in Jerusalem is one of the biggest construction project being undertaken at present.

RCS Director in Jerusalem Sami Makkawi said the RCS humanitarian projects cover all aspects of life in Palestine but cited the sponsorship of orphans and families as one of the greatest charity projects. 'Around 2.2 million is distributed monthly to over 6000 orphans and families,' he added.
