RCS spends Dh 174 million in relief plans over 9 months

The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) has spent around Dh 174.3 million in humanitarian and charity programmes over the period from January to September this year. "Development projects and relief plans carried out by the RCS throughout the same period amounted to over Dh 87.3 million," said Khalifa Al Suweidi, chairman of the charity organisation. He said RCS had made great strides in rendering urgent relief and emergency aid to victims of catastrophes around the world over the said period. He added that his agency had implemented programmes for orphans inside the UAE and overseas at a cost of Dh 35 million over the first nine months of the year. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
