RCS team's visit to Afghanistan ends on upbeat note

Kabul - A delegation from the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) yesterday concluded an official visit to Afghanistan following the laying of the foundation stone for Sheikh Zayed city in Kabul and a number mosques, schools and other humanitarian projects in different parts of the country.



On Wednesday, the RCS delegation laid the foundation stone of Sheikh Zayed city in a ceremony attended by Afghan President Hamid Karzai and senior ministers. It also laid the foundation stones of Sheikh Zayed University in Khost, a mosque and school in Brawon district. The RCS is implementing 22 projects in Afghanistan, namely mosques, schools, hospitals, water wells, dams and orphanages. Over recent years, the RCS has extended more than US$70 million in aid to Afghanistan. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
